Best of the current "cheap" phones?23 Jun 2004 00:15 GMT12
Just changed over to GSM. My daughter doesn't like her Nokia 3595. What
are the recommendations regarding any of the other current crop of
inexpensive phones from ATTWS?
Coimbo GSM & TMDA Phone22 Jun 2004 23:00 GMT2
I switched to GSM from ATT TDMA about 8 months ago. The service is only
okay in the Washington, DC area, and suburbs. Stinks in buildings. I'm
using a Nokia 6200.
Does ATT offer a phone that combines GSM and TDMA?
FCC PCS re-auction slated for January 200522 Jun 2004 19:27 GMT3
In just the past few days, momentum has started to gather for perhaps
the final FCC PCS re-auction to take place next January.  The bulk of
the PCS licenses to be re-auctioned were disaggregated or returned in
entirety to the FCC by NextWave as part of an accord struck in April.

...so the rep says: Stay with TDMA22 Jun 2004 07:55 GMT19
Called AT&T this morning to inquire about the new GSM America, and
when asked about my normal areas of travel, he recommended I stya with
TDMA, even though 95% of my travel is probably covered...
Breath of fresh air for some honesty!
What to Do22 Jun 2004 06:15 GMT3
I've been a long term customer and my contract is about up. I have a TDMA
Nokia 6320 but am ready to go with a GSM phone IF I stay with AT&T. I've
been looking at a couple of different phones and would like your opinion.
I'm considering the Nokia 6820 and the Motorola V600

Free2Go voicemail questions22 Jun 2004 01:44 GMT4
1. Does voicemail retrieval cost account minutes?
2. Is there a voicemail access number that I can dial from a landline?
"Network" display question21 Jun 2004 23:20 GMT11
I've recently upgraded to GSM from TDMA and have noticed that occasionally ,
while traveling, my network display switches from AT&T Wireless to Cingular to
whatever is the strongest tower in the area.( I realize it's supposed to do
this with my settings)
What's wrong with AT&T??21 Jun 2004 16:57 GMT8
Over the last few years I have had many problems with AT&T WS, but all
of them where basic problems that other services have had as well, but
this is it! I went to an AT&T store near my home to get a MOTO V600,
and a new plan. What I thought I received was a 1 year contract, so I
What is Maximum Distance To Transmit To A Tower?21 Jun 2004 03:26 GMT5
Just curious.  How far can one of these .6 watt phones be from a tower and
still be able to be on the network?  How far are these towers placed along
highways, for example?
Have always wondered how far my phone can transmit when I push that "send"
V600 versus Samsung V20521 Jun 2004 03:24 GMT4
Good Afternoon
Currently I am using the Samsung V205, but have been drooling over the V600
since Motorola first put it out on the upcoming phones web page many months
ago.
AT&T completely incompetent, can't stop spamming their own customers20 Jun 2004 11:49 GMT10
AT&T has been sending text messages to my phone informing me of
"important service changes" like:
From: 9272
AT&T Wireless: Credit card purchases of $1.99 or more will now be
AT&T GSM on train between Trenton NJ and NYC20 Jun 2004 08:05 GMT5
There's a long stretch of track between Trenton and New Brunswick that
AT&T WS signal is none or very low.  It was this way with my old TDMA
phone, and now with the GSM service.  Other people with Verizon don't
have a problem at all.  This route is travelled by thousands of people
Text messages?20 Jun 2004 04:26 GMT1
Would you believe Kobe Bryant has gotten a subpoena his accuser's text
messages?
