My ATTWS GSM phone (and two others in my family) would not work last night
for an hour or two.  Got a "system error" message and could not dial.  Also
interesting, the other day my woke up and said "Cingular", now it's back to

so if I understand correctly tdma customers of att will have to upgrade to a
gsm phone and plan, correct? Does that include the phones that are gsm at
the att store or do they have to be cingular branded phones?

After having been a satisfied AT&T wireless customer for years, we
noticed a decline in customer service (i.e. ineptitude/outright lies)
over the past year.  There are far too many stories to go into here, I
just thought that I'd share the final chapter of this sad story.
