Keeping Phone Number - How Does It Work?04 Dec 2004 07:59 GMT6
I am getting ready to change carriers from Verizon to Cingular.  I
want to keep our current phone number.  When I look at the Cingular
site, it asks if you want to keep your number.  What happens if I buy
the phone from someone else, like Amazon.com?  How is the phone number

ATT/Cingular Merge - Effect On Mobile to Mobile?02 Dec 2004 04:41 GMT4
After having been a Verizon customer since there was a Verizon, I am
getting ready to jump ship and go to AT&T GSM.  My wife, daughter and
son-in-law all are on AT&T GSM.  I want to be able to use the
unlimited mobile-to-mobile time to talk with them.  If I choose a
Thinking of switching ATT to Cingular02 Dec 2004 04:11 GMT12
Now that Cingular bought AT&T WS, can I switch from an AT&T

How is GSM reception in Seattle post merger?01 Dec 2004 18:30 GMT3
I was on GSM here in Seattle for about 6 months of 2003, and it was an
absolute nightmare. Even with the Nokia 6200, with its supposedly great
reception, had constant dropped calls and dead spots all over town.
Eventually I couldn't take it anymore, and switched back to TDMA.
NEWS: Cingular now roaming on ATTWS!01 Dec 2004 13:59 GMT20
As of this morning, here in Northern California at least, Cingular subscribers
now have free roaming on the ATTWS network -- I currently have 5 bars of ATTWS
signal where yesterday I was only able to get 1 bar of Cingular signal!

Centennial towers work for Cingular but not AT&T phones01 Dec 2004 03:55 GMT2
I am an AT&T customer visiting family here in Tylertown, MS.  The only GSM
service my phone finds is by Centennial Wireless.  The local Cingular rep
says that all Cingular customers are able to use Centennial towers because
of Cingular's roaming agreement with Centennial.  They dont ...
Gettting New Phone out of AT&T01 Dec 2004 02:10 GMT23
My contract is up in a few weeks. I noticed on Amazon they have the
Audiovox 5600 for free (actually, get $25 back) with new activation.
Of course, rebates are for new customers only. Has anyone gotten a
good phone out of AT&T threatening to switch to another carrier?  It
