"Effective 3/30/08, AT&T will charge 20 cents for text/instant messags

I am traveling out of USA for little less then a month (27 days). The
date of travels do not coincide with my billing cycle. Is it possible
for me to suspend the service during that period to save some money ?

EDGE on my iPhone is spotty at best.
Often for several minutes absolutely nothing will load, in Safari,
Weather, Mail, or anything else, and sometimes it loads quite slowly.
Other times it's perfectly fast (as in, as fast as EDGE can be).

The whole GSM vs CDMA debate is pretty much over for most of the
world, all you have to look at is the graph of the competing
