Nokia Cark 126 Car Kit08 Dec 2004 10:45 GMT4
I'd like to hear from someone who uses one of these car kits.
Does it use an external antenna?  I tried asking Nokia, but didn't have
any luck.
Thanks.
SE K700i as a GPRS modem?08 Dec 2004 10:02 GMT2
I've been trying to get my laptop to connect to the net using Optus GPRS but
haven't had much luck.
I've followed the instructions in Wireless_Mobile_Services_22012004.pdf and
was able to get my HP TC1000 (with a dongle) to connect to the K700i via
Push to Talk08 Dec 2004 09:02 GMT15
With new phones starting to come out (slowly) with Push to Talk
capability is it possible for this to be set up on a an independent
server from a carrier?
From what I have read it is carriers set it up, but this will only
Optus Wireless Internet08 Dec 2004 07:38 GMT13
Does anyone out there know how to configure a laptop computer to access the
internet via Optus Wireless Internet using GPRS over a mobile phone?
The Optus configuration site at optus.wds.net.au offers minimal insight
(it's geared for PDAs) and the 'service' at 1300 307 937 was of no ...

Nokia 2112 CDMA Phone07 Dec 2004 05:55 GMT4
I am after any opinions on the Nokia 2112 CDMA phone.
Can anybody who owns one of these phones  give me some feedback on what they
are like, good or bad.
Would like a basic CDMA phone because of the poor coverage I currently get
m8 Telecom Talk Caps07 Dec 2004 02:02 GMT11
Has anyone used m8 telecom before, so what are they like?
The only down fall I can see is a fault happens theres a 3rd party involved
instead of dealing with optus directly and the non 24/7 customer service.

News: Telstra increases mobile coverage06 Dec 2004 21:08 GMT125
Check out this media release from telstra - pity they haven't released
GSM coverage maps in over 2 years and they did away with the digital
update website & phone number (after they didn't update them for 2
years either)
New Zealand pre-paid carriers06 Dec 2004 21:08 GMT3
Can anyone tell me the names of the pre-paid mobile carriers in New
Zealand, and any opinions of them? A friend is after a pre-paid SIM to
use in his GSM phone while on holiday.
I know there was a post about this earlier in the year, but I figure
Telstra wholesale business to be made a stand-alone division06 Dec 2004 15:21 GMT4
This should make Telstra wholesale costs more transparent which (given that Telstra has resisted this in the
past) probably means lower wholesale costs - benefiting particularly ISPs offering ADSL and telcos offering
fixed line rental.

6610 NAM Change05 Dec 2004 10:07 GMT13
A while ago on tech TV (foxtel) they had a guy who managed to change
his Caller ID number on his phone which basically allowed him to appear
to be calling from any number he wanted to
I have had a look on the net and i have found that it involves changing
c_ FASCINATING !05 Dec 2004 09:45 GMT3
I find it extremely fascinating to notice how you bloody morons are yapping
endlessly on you fucken aus.ngs,  completely impervious to the DDD ( Divine
Drudging Drought ) ravaging the land. The only proper explanation _ to me in
any case _ is that population of keyboard bangers you ...

GSM under windy conditions04 Dec 2004 23:13 GMT10
This may be odd and seemed to be against the physics of it...
A number of times I've noted that the incoming voice quality would be
very poor with sound cutting in and out. Each of these episodes would
happen in the open under rather windy conditions. Shielding the
What crappy mobile network is AAPT on?04 Dec 2004 14:32 GMT30
A few weeks ago I was very happy with AAPT's coverage.
Now it shows on the same spots "SOS Calls Only".
Did they change carriers?
I will have to go elsewhere now. What would be a good alternative to
