I had our Telstra rep drop two of these off yesterday for a free trial http://www.maxon.com.au/ProductDetails.asp?ID=MM-5100P&Type=10 Seems to work ok (connects at 230kbps but downloads are only equivalent to 128kbps ISDN) and our pricing works out to about $100 for 50 hours ...

Our SMS gateway (Falcom A2D) dropped dead. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap and cheerful RS232 GSM device? The dedicated modems tend to be quite expensive for what they are. What about phones with an RS232 interface and cable? And clues?

I do 4WD and cycle outback touring and need good handheld CDMA coverage. My wife has a Nokia 2280 which has a pull-up antenna and it has worked really well for us. I think the pull up antenna adds a bit of range. A patch cord and external antenna is not practical on the bike. ...

I was wondering if anybody on this list has any experience with ASUS smartphones ? In specific the ASUS MyPal A716. I could get one for a fairly reasonable price but I was wondering why these are so much cheaper than say the HP6365 smartphone.
