Windows -> Linux via Bluetooth28 May 2006 23:12 GMT1
I'm trying to set up a TCP/IP link between Linux and Windows XP. I have
looked at various web sites and whilst it seems rather straightforward
from Linux to Linux via Bluetooth (i.e. pand running both ways) it's not
so clear how to do it between Linux and Windows (surprisingly). ...
Hey! Keep Your Hands Out Of My Abstraction Layer!26 May 2006 04:47 GMT81
I'm reading the specification for 802.11, and I cannot help but wonder
why so many network standards seem to enjoy transgressing the
boundaries of their abstraction layers.  For instance, 802.11 keeps
hinting that they are helping to solve the mobility problem, but also

Once again I'd like to try and get a Bluetooth Headset to work as a microphone with my Windows XP (SP2) installation.
The last time I tried this was a few years ago and the XP Bluetooth stack didn't support voice and the Belkin Bluetooth software was so iffy I just gave up and ...

Bluetooth comm between laptops in public16 May 2006 11:54 GMT9
Is there such a thing?  Am new to this Bluetooth concept and don't know
what all is available.  Ideally, I want two laptops with Bluetooth USB
plug-ins able to recognize each other as, say ... a new drive letter,
or at least each "seeing" the same 'shared' folder.  This would be
Anyone wearing glasses with Jabra BT500 headset?16 May 2006 08:24 GMT1
Has anyone tried wearing glasses with the Jabra Bluetooth Headset -
BT500?  The photos of this "behind-the-ear" headset make it appear that
wearing glasses along with the headset would be difficult.  The reviews
rate the Jabra BT500 very high.  I sometimes wear glasses and I don't

Bluetooth Headsets11 May 2006 14:05 GMT3
Hi there, not sure if this is the right group, but it is the closest I
could find.
I am trying to find a Bluetooth Headset (like the ones for cellphones)
that I can use with a non-bluetooth MP3 player.
Do 2 bluetooth dongles = a USB cable?11 May 2006 11:47 GMT1
I have an all-in-one printer/scanner. It is connected to the desktop
computer via a USB2 cable. Now I want to do some scanning downstairs. Can I
pair a bluetooth on the computer to another one on the printer, trying to
make it a wireless network?
Any loud bluetooth headsets?11 May 2006 05:31 GMT2
I have a Blackberry 7290, and am having trouble getting a regular wired
hands-free that's loud enough to hear comfortably in the car.  I was
thinking of getting an amplifier for it, but am wondering if any
bluetooth headsets go loud -- I figure if they have a battery, maybe
HS850 - Feedback and Sensitivy - BT250/BT500 quality?09 May 2006 16:46 GMT2
I've been using a wired Jabra boom (Earwave bud) headset for a few
years and love it.  It sits snugly in my ear with the ear bud and audio
quality is excellent.  Now I'm moving to Bluetooth...
I first tried a Jabra BT350 which did not sit in my ear properly.  I

Is the quality of music over BT Headphones near the quality of decent wired ones?01 May 2006 23:44 GMT2
Or will it be all glitchy?
I know it depends on encoding etc. but if you took a high quality encoded
file and played it through one connection and then the other would it be
obviously worst?
