What is America Roaming Network?08 Jun 2005 12:17 GMT7
A weird thing happened earlier today.
An associate had purchased a used Nokia 3588i (earlier service terminated,
ESN clear) and was showing it around before taking it over to a cellular
provider's retail store for activation. Someone happened to notice that the
tMobile, Phila PA - USA  Area: Which Freq?07 Jun 2005 15:31 GMT5
I switched to tMobile some months ago and am trying to explain to myself why the
signal is so poor compared to my old Cingular TDMA phones.
One thing that caught my ear was somebody's assertion that one freq or the other
(1900 or 850/900) had superior building penetration.
CallPlus - what about PRL?07 Jun 2005 15:21 GMT2
I just activated an old Nokia 6360 on the CallPlus TDMA prepaid
plan, and have been trying to understand a bit about how all this
works.  I've come across the term PRL (preferred roaming list) and
wondered if my phone has one.  If it does, was it updated when I
t-mobile - likely to negotiate terms for a new customer?07 Jun 2005 14:11 GMT3
I'm a current Sprint PCS customer, getting 300 minutes/8pm nights and

all likely to negotiate the addition of the unlimited weekends to their $30
plan, or an 8pm start to nights?
AT&T Refugee07 Jun 2005 14:10 GMT1
My son's phone is on AT&T, but in our area, when Cingular bought AT&T,
they were required to spin off the former AT&T customers to Suncom. The
Go Phone package is being discontinued next month. He has 150 minutes
plus free nights and weekends for about $35.00 (which is $29.95 ...
NEWS: Voicemail message is getting lost07 Jun 2005 12:40 GMT61
<http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3971053.stm>
Anyone in their 30s can remember when voicemail was as much of a
novelty as push-button phones. But to younger folk, leaving a voice
  message is just passé.
I want to lose my land line06 Jun 2005 23:29 GMT7
At this point it seems to make sense to not pay my local phone company any
longer.  I have excellent coverage with Cingular's GSM service in Atlanta,
including anywhere in my house.
My plan is this:

Perhaps this...05 Jun 2005 04:50 GMT5
...is a silly question, but I thougt I'd toss it out nevertheless: if
you ask a service provider to send an internet signal to you via your
cell phone, can you then put the phone near your wi-fi enabled laptop
and grab the signal that way?  Just wondering.
