Would I get better reception in outlying areas that have spotty reception, if I kept a backup analog bag phone in the car? Don't these have 3 watts of send and receive power? Can analog bag phones still be purchased new?

Just got a new v400. But didn't like the battery life. I wonder if I charged the phone correctly. The manual said the battery is partially charged at the factory and I should charge it till it says 'charge complete'. I did that. It took only 2 hours and it lasted about 2

I called Cingular to update my irdb. Now, i thoguht this was for the tdma sie of the gait phone. She said it was for gsm. I do know that irdb stands for intelegent roaming data base. How does this relate to gsm verses tdma. Is this supposed to happen automatically? Thanks.
