Last time CR did a cell phone story, Nextel was rated high for customer
satisfaction, right below Verizon.  In the latest CR report, Nextel is rated
DEAD LAST for customer satisfaction.  They went on to explain that "lack of

I have a CDM9500.  The ear piece volume is not great.  Anything I can do to
make it louder?  Any experience with the Motorola V551? (I'm thinking about
a swithch to Cingular),  Thanks.

I currently have an old AT&T TDMA phone that I'm considering replacing. I
really like the Treo 650, which I'm told will be available from Cingular
later this month. I have a few questions though:
1. A Cingular salesman told me (in trying to sell me a Blackberry) that

I've been looking at getting an unlocked GSM phone so that I can use it both
in the U.S. and overseas.  In the U.S. I'd be in Madison, Wisconsin, and the
pre-paid SIM cards I find for the U.S. seem to be for T-Mobile, which
doesn't cover Madison... whereas Cingular does.

I've long been saying: "Look at the numbers" Verizon is growing so fast
that it will be less than 2 years before they again become number one in
number of subscribers, and overtake Cingular which will (and is) have
trouble integrating in AT&T Wireless, witness the the switch of ...

can i get it replaced with the real thing?other than with those ugly
aftermarket glossy copies. How much? thanks

Cingular sent me a 'possibly reconditioned' replacement
Motorola Model V400 GSM, cellphone and my original
cellphone, for which I paid $200.00, will not be returned.

Strong signal, week signal. Please provide info both good and bad.

Cingular is not Metronorth friendly,
kept breaking up on the Metronorth,
Greenwich, Ct. to NYC run.
Cingular was  fine, once in NYC and in Greenwich, Ct. itself.

Scenario
I am an AT&T customer without a contract and currently have a TDMA Phone
I want to move to Cingular and upgrade to GSM and to get a new phone
*** I moved to a neighboring state so my phone has a different area code

Most of December 2004 my Nokia 6340I with GAIT option, which had worked
coast to coast, started being unable to place or receive calls. Even in
Metro Atlanta! Calling Tech Support and spending 30-90minutes each
call, I was assured the problem was fixed.

My sim does not work in a cingular phone sim from nokia 3100 (at&t gsm) to
nokia 6800. I get the dreaded "Phone Restricted" ... I assume this is
"locked"?
Any way to activate or unlock/unrestrict this phone? My display is gone on

In Los Angeles which isbetter Cinguler or T mobil. I like the one year
contract with T mobil
