I have been having problems with the many x427 Samsung phones that Cingular
has been sending and having me exchange over and over because my headsets
wont work. This has been going on for a yr! Last week they exchanged my x427
for a new x497. Same problems, my plantronics, belkin, ...

I support a very large number of enterprise users most who use Cingular's
Pre-Paid Go service for data (email, SMS, MMS, etc).  We are getting a large
number of PIN/PUK Code issues.  I believe this is mainly due to the fact

years. So far it has pretty good coverage in NY state and in some other

I read on here that tethering (I think you guys call it)(Connecting
phone and laptop by Bluetooth or USB Cable) is no longer allowed wit
Cingular MediaNet.  I also read that it still works though, just no
sanctioned by Cingular.  

This is  the first time I've ever tried to use a mobile phone for web
access etc so hopefully the problems are just due to my total lack of
understanding how to configure cell phones,but.....

I'm not a SunCom subscriber - I just want to send my friend who is SMS

Google Now has maps that will display on your phone.
http://www.google.com from your WAP browser will offer the "downloadable
maps" as an option, or you can go to google.com/glm to check it out.
It does suck up the data, though.

Situation.
A co-worker and myself share an office at work. We sit about 5 feet apart,
and both use Cingular and both have Moto. V551s. He gets a steady 4 to 5
bars. I have 2 phones (family share) that both get an unsteady 1 to 2 bars,

OK, got flipped from the Cingular VM, to the "new" VM.  Been on it
about 4 weeks.  Just last week, I started getting a "Sorry, that
number is out of your calling area".  Worked fine dialing anyone up
till last week. Tech support says this is a new "feature".

Like you, I have been a strong proponent of GAIT phones.  I have often lost
the GSM network on my T62u phone, especially as I drive south and west from
Dallas.  It often switches to TDMA, and on occasions to AMPS.

is there any trick to disable or lock the side volume buttons on the Samsung
SGH-X497? The buttons are a very soft touch and will silence the ringer when
put in a holster or if even the slightest accidental touch resulting in
missed calls. TIA Any undocumented tips/tricks for this ...

Has anyone else had delays in text messages being received? I am
sometimes getting pages that were sent a day before the following day.
