GPRS Settings for Fido28 Feb 2004 08:03 GMT2
Hi all...been a few years since I've been to the group, but I'm finally back
on Fido (due to Telus' lackluster signal in my area) and I got myself a nice
unlocked Nokia 3600, along with an unlimited data plan.
My question...and forgive me if it's somewhere in the group already, but
New phones? (and iFido)26 Feb 2004 05:20 GMT10
Anyone got dirt on upcoming Fido handsets? I'd love to see something
from Nokia with Bluetooth.
And iFido sounds pretty good. Its good to see Microcell branch out
using their strong branding. I think its a great idea.

Fido is going "contract"24 Feb 2004 21:28 GMT36
It's official!  Beginning February 17th, Fido will begin to offer their
phones with a 24-month contract, or "agreement," as they like to call it.
The pricing structure will be slightly different, but you can still get a
phone with no contract, if you so choose.  Without a contract, ...

Fido Analog in BC24 Feb 2004 05:18 GMT2
A while back, there was talk of Telus prohibiting Fido users from
access to their analog network when out of the Fido service areas.
This was supposed to have taken effect in January but Fido was looking
to the courts to prevent this.
Sympathy for Vancouver users22 Feb 2004 22:06 GMT16
I'm in Vancouver for a couple of days from Toronto, and 95% of my
outgoing calls have been "System Busy". Wow.
The majority of my incoming calls aren't incoming, and my text
messages are arriving late.
GSM Network in Mexico22 Feb 2004 05:19 GMT5
Anyone know what GSM frequency is used in Mexico?  Same as my Fido set
or do I need to bring a tri-band?  Saw lots of Americans using their
cells last time i was there.
Specifically interested in Cozumel (near Cancun).
Must store number with a 1?????21 Feb 2004 11:56 GMT6
I just bought a phone from HK, and I am gonna use it with my exising Fido
card (it's a tri band phone).
I found out today that the caller ID thing does not quite work.
Let's say I store Dude - 6041234567 to the new phone.  Then I use the phone

Fido still not profitable. Lost $11,2 million instead of $123 million a year ago.
Fido's visit to the bankrupcy court resulted in its debts being reduced by

GPRS/Meridian lockable?/HipTop plan21 Feb 2004 06:53 GMT1
I'd like to know if the Meridian G100 cards are lockable, what I mean is
could I buy one off of Ebay, let's say a T-Mobile @ 30$ and then hope it
would work over here ?
And also, I've got an HipTop with the Unlimited GPRS HipTop plan. Would it
Delayed text and voice messages21 Feb 2004 00:33 GMT7
Hi all. I'm with Cityfido in Vancouver. I switched from Rogers about 2
months ago. So far I love it, my bills went from 120 a month to 55 a month.
I also used to experience a lot of delayed voice and text messages with
Rogers. Sometimes messages would show up all at once days later. ...
Network Frequencies20 Feb 2004 17:31 GMT3
Is there a list of the frequencies different networks use?
I'm going to the Philippines for a few months and I'm trying to figure
out if I can do a SIM swap on my T68i. Buying a new phone for just a
few months would be a complete waste of money...
