911 on Fido31 Aug 2005 05:50 GMT5
Called Fido for a long standing question I had.
If you call 911, all they get is your phone number. It seems the 911
agency and/or Police must then call Fido to get your address/name etc.
However, they are supposedly capable of triangulating your position
email support from Fido?26 Aug 2005 19:34 GMT4
Does Fido not answer questions when you go to the fido.ca web site?  I
asked a question about 7 days ago and immediately got an
acknowledgement, but not a thing since.  I'm wondering if they have
anyone at all working in Montréal!  I tried to get hold of a real live
Changes to WAP gateway26 Aug 2005 04:41 GMT4
There was a complaint about a guy no longer able to use his hanset for
VPN access.
In terms of WAP, stuff has definitely changed.
When a WAP request is handled by the WAP gateway (APN), it is converted
Flashed my V551, no more Regers Wireless, back to FIDO25 Aug 2005 03:34 GMT3
Just wondering, flashed my unlocked V551 to latest software version, and now
i got FIDO back on my screen and in my network list, instead of rogers.
During the spring, "Rogers" replaced "Fido" appeared on my V400 as the
network, and they said it was normal.
Battery question20 Aug 2005 02:42 GMT2
Is there a the difference between 670 mAh, 700 mAh and 770 mAh?
My Sony Ericcson Li-ion 3.6 V battery says 670 mAh.  I've seen 700 and
770 mAh batteries for sale and wonder if I can use those as long as the
volts are the same?

Rogers vs Fido?18 Aug 2005 06:49 GMT42
I'm in Calgary, but potentially moving to Winnipeg in the future.  I'm
currently a TELUS Mike user, and looking to switch away from Mike (which
is on a proprietary iDEN platform)
I want a SIM card as I tend to swap handsets frequently and I don't like
End of Analog16 Aug 2005 04:41 GMT16
Surprise, surprise, I got a letter today saying that since "Fido" has
"new, enhanced" coverage available, they're discontinuing analog roaming
for those of us with dual-mode phones.
I don't have to pay the extra $5/mo, but if I place or receive a call
"Time stamp" on Fido prepaid voicemail/voice messaging12 Aug 2005 15:26 GMT5
Maybe this is an elementary question but is there any setting that you
can make that will put a "time stamp" on voice messaging deposits?  I
can't see that there's any setting to change it.  I've never used
voicemail that you didn't have some indication of when a message was

Unlocked Rogers Phone on Fido GPRS09 Aug 2005 19:44 GMT3
I got a Rogers SE T616 that had been unlocked.  Works fine for voice with
my Fido SIM.
However, it won't work for GPRS.  I tried using it on a Bluetooth
connection with my laptop, the same way I access the web with a Fido T610,
Do NOT want roaming08 Aug 2005 07:40 GMT3

I am on the Fido network... but I do "NOT" wish to have access to the
Rogers Expanded network.
Is there a way to program either or both of these phones to work
Expanded Network07 Aug 2005 02:28 GMT2

Just tried {*#123#} - back on Fido basic!
Can I activate the expanded network from my cell
what are my options?06 Aug 2005 01:55 GMT1
I just switched to another provider, and I am left with 2 FIDO phones
(complete with SIMs). Both were on the $10/mo plan. Anyone knows if I can
sell them and have the accounts transferred to the buyer? Can I sell
just the SIMs? What are my options at this point (I will have to ...
Expanded Network:  Can someone explain this?05 Aug 2005 22:48 GMT10
Ok, so my girlfriend gets this huge flyer from Fido saying that effective
August 3, 2005 you can use their "expanded" network. To see if you are
currently on the expanded network, call [free] *#123#.   Of course, this
doesnt work.  I get "unknown application".   The flyer goes on ...
