Is there any possibility to remove the block on roaming in the local area (USA) or country (Europe) ? Specific example - I have service with T Mobile in US. There are areas in my local area where AT&T has better coverage than T Mobile or T Mobile has no coverage at all. ...

My impression is that GSM is largely based on freeway routes, mostly freeways that connect with major cities. Recently AT&T came out with plans to expand what they call roadrunners across the southern freeways from California to Texas.

Looking to buy a good but basic unlocked triband GSM phone for occasional travel to Europe (will buy in-country SIM when I get there). The sole criteria are reliability and RF/audio performance. No need for the latest model with games, web access, bluetooth, etc.

How is GSM dial-up billed on T-Mobile's network? Is it just like voice? My primary interest is in whether I'm going to get a nasty surprise if I use it indiscriminately during my free nights and weekends.
