My query is : why the no.of time slots in GSM is 8 ?
By what calculation we come to this conclusion ?

I'm aware of the RFCs for GSM's AMR codecs, as well as 3GPP2's EVRC and SMV
codecs.  But I can't seem to find anything related to encapsulation of
"legacy" GSM speec codecs (FR, EFR, HR).  Can anyone help?
