A few years back the 2G cellular standards drivers got together to form
their 3G standards.
There were a few groups iirc - including GSM, CDMA, & NTT's standard.
Instead of deciding on 1 specific standard, they worked out how to make

I purchased a Riiing SIM from a German company off Ebay May 9th for a
trip I'm taking tomorrow (the 22nd) to Europe.  Bad Move.  They shipped
it the 10th airmail, but it evidently got lost.  I should have bought it
from Telestial here in the US, but thought I'd save some bucks.  ...

I just got a Nokia 3620 for Cingular.  I was unable to make certain changes
because the phone is locked with a PIN code.  I was able to UNLOCK the
phone, but it still requests a PIN code to make changes.  Argh!  Is there a
way to reset the phone? or do I need to get that from ...

Normally, if going abroad for a reasonable period, I get a local pre-pay SIM
as it normally works out a lot cheaper, mainly because of no charge for
incoming. (Eg Ireland, Australia New Zealand) or use a United Telecom SIM.
I'm going to Canada (Alberta/BC) and Washington State ...

Is anyone here aware of a GSM modem (dual-band will do) with a USB
interface - preferably powered via the USB ?
I've googled a bit, but the number of hits on "USB GSM MODEM" is quite
overwhelming.

Is EDGE just used for faster data transfer rates for data calls and
web browsing?  Or is it also used for voice calls?  Will it be a
problem in the future if your phone doesn't support EDGE and your
network begins to use it?
