I've subscribed to a local phone coop cell phone
service and they use GSM.
They are very open to buying my own unlocked GSM phone
and letting me use it on their system.

How many useful characters can you expect to send?  I've read several
places that SMS can only send 160 characters, but it never says how

I'm currently trying to get a GPRS module to make data calls. For this
I use a microcontroller that sends various AT commands to it. So to

Does anyone know if the MSISDN is stored in the VLR?
I'm asking because I want to know if you can get a list from the VLR
with all the MSISDN's connected to that VLR.
I'm confused because I have found information about both cases -
