A friend has told me there is a utility about for my sagem myx2 that will allow temporary unlocking of it, apparantly its called ASTU (or in full A Sagem Temporary Unlocker) apparantly from googling it does appear to be real and apparantly unlocks the phone until you switch it off ...

Well, went into Woolworths as suggested (thanks very much to everyone who replied) after first looking in all the other phone shops - got everything but an Orange shop in this particular town, which is the one we wanted but nevermind.
