I will most probably sign up for a 12-month contract in the UK on a monthly plan (which will probably be about 30 pounds per month). However, I have an unlocked Nokia 6610 which I can use the service on, hence I do not have a need to get one of the "free" subsidized phones.

Is it possible to determine the network someone is on? The reason I ask is I'm on 02 and calls to others on 02 are free, whereas calls to other networks numbers aren't. So, any way to know if the guy I'm calling is also on 02?

On a brief visit to Belgium last month, I noticed that my O2 PAYG A800 switched to another network (Mobistar IIRC). Supposing I'd wanted to ring a UK landline, could I just have called up the number from my phonebook (and had it routed automatically), or would I have needed to
