A friend has just bought s/h 3310. Works great and she is very pleased with it except for one aspect, when she sends texts to a friend with a Sagem, the friend sees what they call ' chinese writing' before and after the text, I suspect these are control characters being interpreted ...

any idea if the tesco PAYG service requires a regular top up to keep it active? I think the Tesco service is provided by O2, and I believe O2 service requires a top up every so often to keep it running? thanks

I was trying to unlock my phone using a serial cable and UST Pro software. It said operation successful but it was still locked. Like a prat I tried the "Unlock Flash Sector" option, which completed, but now the phone doesn't power on at all

I'm new to this sort of thing, but my youngest is keen to get hold of the Siemens s65. I notice its on contract but not payg. I'm quite happy with a bog standard Nokia for work, so what are the pitfalls etc of getting a S65 on contract, a cheap nokia on pay as u go and swapping ...

Is there any phone available that will only accept text messages from numbers stored in its phone book, or perhaps block messages from a 'blacklist' of numbers? When I say blocking, I would imagine the phone receiving the message but not giving any alert, but just deleting it
