BUT... ForwardCellular were obviuosly dodgy to me as soon as I came near
them - for one thing, telling blatant lies about trivia l problems hey could
have just been upfront
about! No.... wonderful people, we heard again and again.

Since yesterday. What's going on? Have they bit the dust like Forward

Was about to order this phone but after a bit of research found a forum
where lots of owners are having problems with audio playback on it,
(which I hoped to use quite a lot) whereby every 10-15 seconds there is a
noticeable hiss, especially on quieter music.

IIRC, GSM uses TDMA and divides each 200 kHz carrier into 8 timeslots.
One timeslot corresponds to a single voice channel and has a capacity of
9.6 kbps. Moreover, all 8 slots can used to provide one 64 kbps circuit.
Right?

I get an SMS saying I have mail and when I call the number I need a PIN!
Is there a default PIN?
I've read throught the handbook and can't find any mention of a PIN number.

Anyone successfully unlocked the NEC E616 using the following method:
1. Insert NON 3 SIM card then power on the handset.
2. Handset will display “please insert correct SIM card”     (or
something like that).
