Got a 3 contract due to run out in 5mths but the handset has died.  The

I've just got a new contract which comes with an upgrade phone that
I'm not particularly interested in. If I wanted to sell the phone
should I stick my sim card in first and get the IMEI number
'activated' or something like that? It would be nice to leave it all
