I know it's good to periodically update the Preferred Roaming List (*228,
option 2) but what about selecting option 1- Programming-  to update that?

The missing calls bug has been discussed and there is a workaround.
But, I found two other bothersome bugs that I have not seen discussed:
1. The reminder for text messages and, more importantly, voice mails
does not work--at least not on vibrate. The missing call reminder

How good is the America's Choice coverage in the Lake Tahoe area (CA
and NV). Is it native Verizon or a roaming partner? I will be in the
Stateline, NV and South Lake Tahoe, CA area.

I just got a Motorola 270c (was an Alltel phone(Motorola on the bottom
