Does Verizon have 3G?04 Mar 2004 22:59 GMT5
I've been looking around for a different carrier than Sprint, and am
having trouble figuring out whether Verizon supports 3G or 2.5G..
Spring makes a big deal about their "Vision" plans, but there seems to
be no similarly branded service discernable on Verizon's website. Yet
kyocera 7135:  update??04 Mar 2004 17:43 GMT7

was recalled.  the only other phone sort of like it is the samsung
i500.  (palm os preferred here.)  anyone have any info about the
kyocera?  is it dead, coming back, or will be replaced?  thanks much.
Week Signal Area04 Mar 2004 15:32 GMT4
I have a VX10 and frequently find myself in a specific area with very week
signals.  Sometimes I get 1 bar analog, sometimes 1 bar digital, sometimes I
find the Roaming light blinking and 5 bars digital - unfortunately this does
not happen very often!  I think that this may be ...
Network upgrades for 2003, but not here04 Mar 2004 15:20 GMT3
Here is a brief summary of press releases for 2003.  Besides some of
the conflicting numbers for the same locations, where's the rest of
the $4 billion spent last year?
Surprise, surprise, they still haven't spent a dime in MN, at least
SMS and hospital equipment04 Mar 2004 05:40 GMT10
Does anyone know whether SMS can be used inside a hospital without
interfering with monitoring equipment?

Update: In-Network allows you to call ALL VZW Customers, pre-pay too...04 Mar 2004 03:44 GMT7
Had the best of questions from a customer:  If I can call "any" Verizon
Wireless customer when I'm "in network", what about if I call a pre-pay
customer?
A call to CS said "great question", took a few minutes and came back stating
Free calls to Canada only on VZW?04 Mar 2004 02:15 GMT5
I'm in the NY/NJ market and have enjoyed calls to Canada at no extra
charge ever since I've had the America's Choice plan. I'm half
thinking of switching to another carrier just to get more minutes for
the same price (specifically thinking of ATTWS). I'm wondering if
v60p+gomadic cable+computer=???04 Mar 2004 01:05 GMT8
Okay, I don't know why I haven't tried this earlier, but I'm having trouble
using the express network (as in MOU, 1X) with my computer.  I have the
gomadic cable which has a serial connection so I realize I won't ever get to
144, but that's okay.  I *can* install the 'modem' as a 19 ...
AMPS ? --and also GSM phone03 Mar 2004 22:50 GMT5
I notice that phones with AMPS seem to be highly recommended in fringe
areas.
I do not yet have a cell phone, but what exactly is AMPS?     I did try
a google search and some others but found nothing.
LG VX4500 & Laptop03 Mar 2004 21:10 GMT7
I just signed up for Americas Choice family plan and got a new LG vx4500
phone. I see that Verizon sells a mobile office kit. Would this give me
internet access on a laptop, or do you need a special plan for that?
Thanks

Has anybody tried using Quick 2 Net in Alaska or Canada?
Cell Phone Exchange Directory? (To facilitate IN-Network calling...)03 Mar 2004 07:44 GMT5
Does anyone here know of a source for determining which telephone exchanges
are associated with specific carriers? For example, in Virginia, 703-625 and
703-980 appear to be used by AT&T. 703-244 and 757-813 are associated with
Verizon.
