Tower 40 to 50 miles away15 May 2005 21:22 GMT5
I was in Hawaii last month, and while on the island of Maui, I went to
the top of Haleakala, an altitude of 10,0023 feet (3055 m), where I made
an analog phone call (no digital service available on top of the
mountain).  I just checked my statement, and, to my surprise, that call
Motorola SC3160 OTA ?15 May 2005 12:25 GMT3
My g/f has a 3160 (Yeah, I know - her policy is if it ain't broke..).
I can't get it to OTA update. *228, then option 2. Sits for about 3
minutes of "Please wait while your phone is being programmed..." then
"I'm sorry, your phone could not be programmed at this time" (Ok,
BLuetooth/Lexus14 May 2005 21:26 GMT13
Just got a bluetooth enabled lexus today.  The dealer said that it won't be
worth my time to enable it for my verizon phone yet, since the service is
limited.  He said verizon is upgrading the necessary patch in a few months.
Does anyone else have some insight on what I am ...

text messages from Verizon14 May 2005 15:59 GMT23
Just an FYI for everyone.  I received a text message today on my phone from
what I thought was a spammer.  Called Verizon and it turned out they are
starting a new campaign where they send out free (yes, it won't cost you the
$.02 to receive it) messages promoting new services ...
Office Message Alert question14 May 2005 15:57 GMT4
Does the Office Message Alert (OMA) feature allow an arbitrary string of
10 digits to be sent as the callback number, or does it have to be a
valid phone number?  i.e., can I actually see the number when I get the
message, or is it only available to use as a callback number?  I'm
Moto V710 alarm function???14 May 2005 09:21 GMT4
It seems that the default ringer for the alarm function is "vibe dot".
Since this makes me almost no noise, it seems to be a very strange
default for the alarm.
I tried going into settings/ring styles/loud detail, and changing the
Moto 710 - signal strength and signal/noise?14 May 2005 06:16 GMT15
In the Moto 710 - how do you get to the information which shows the real
signal strength (not just the bars) and the signal to noise ratio?

Practicing into a net in backyard13 May 2005 17:53 GMT3
I am new to golf and practice my swing, when I can't make it to the
driving range, by hitting balls into a net in the backyard. At the
driving range it is easy to see hooks and slices but into the net I
can't tell where the ball would have gone. Is there anything available
New Phone, Old Plan?13 May 2005 16:01 GMT5
I am ready for a new phone, and want to drop some of my Verizon
minutes.... but I want to keep the old "AC1" plan with analog.
If I make changes will Verizon force me to go to AC2?

New Motorola V265 -- high pitched noise...12 May 2005 05:34 GMT7
My wife and I just upgraded our phones to new Motorola V265's.  From
the moment we turned them on we noticed one thing... they give off a
high pitch noise from the earpiece that drives us crazy!!  We have 5
bars, and the squeal remains whether or not the backlight is on or
best phone for frenge areas12 May 2005 00:25 GMT2
I live in a frenge area and my qualcom phone goes in and out most of the
time.  Does anyone have any experience as to which phone might be better in
frenge areas.  I have traveled all over the lower 48 and get lousie service
in my back yard.
Verizon Push To Talk - poor experiences - 15 seconds to hear PTT11 May 2005 21:03 GMT4
I went to the verizon store to sample the push to talk phones.  First
of all, the stores in the mall did not have any to try.  They had some
behind their display in a separate case but they were not activated.
Some sales people said it was just about as good as Nextel now.   Some
