My HTC Incredible got it's update to the new Android OS this morning. I
suppose it is now a hotspot, but AFAIK, Verizon will charge me for using
it as such. I still have my unlimited data plan for the phone but I know
that I'd have to pay for tethering.

My dad needs a new Verizon phone, and he's looking at getting a Droid
since we have 7 other members of our family with this phone (so he has a
built-in support system).
He's going to be visiting Eastern Europe (Poland, Italy, Jordan are all
