In what can be mildly termed a significant 'variation' in the IEEE standards process, 27 companies including chipset vendors Atheros, Broadcom, Intel and Marvell announced Monday the official formation of the Enhanced Wireless Consortium (EWC) in an effort to speed up the IEEE 802.11n standards process.
