FT.com - One good test of a golf club's priorities is its attitude to mobile phones. Jabbering away on a mobile is incompatible with proper concentration on the course and civilised conversation off it. Clubs that don't severely restrict mobiles are places where business is more important than golf and are therefore to be avoided. A discreet glance at a BlackBerry, however, is another matter altogether and often necessary when trying to arrange a match. Texting is the grey area - all right in the locker room but not on the fairway.
